Emergency Response Belt

Delivering Results

Operational Experience since its introduction has been extremely positive. Over the three-month period of the trial it proved 100% effective in establishing control, with all applications and removals taking less than 30 seconds to complete. All officers rated its application as very easy. There were no injuries to officers or subjects as a result of or during its application or removal. There also was no damage to police vehicles or other police property and no complaints from the public (subjects or witnesses) as a result of its use

Officers rated the transport process as completely safe. This included moving the subject from the scene of the arrest to the vehicle, placing them in the vehicle, transport to the police station, removal from the vehicle, movement into the custody suite and final placement in a cell.

Some of those placed in this device were extremely violent individuals - in one case officers had to effect room entry with protective equipment. Once placed in groundpin, the ERB was applied "making further violent conduct impossible" as reported in the evaluation form.

The final evaluation has strongly reommended the adoption of this device, which is now proven to reduce officer and subject injury, damage to property and complaints.
